2020 will be celebrated in 2021!

THE ORGANIZING ENTITIES HAVE AGREED NEW DATES FOR THE 10th EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL CHILDHOOD SOCCER TOURNAMENT SESIMBRASUMMER CUP 2020.

2020 will be celebrated in 2021.

The Castelo Parish Council, with Grupo Desportivo de Sesimbra, Grupo Desportivo de Alfarim, Associação de Cultura e Recreio União Trabalhadora Zambujalense and Associação do Desenvolvimento do Quinta do Conde agreed on new dates for the tournament, which will take place in the summer of 2021.

The presidencies of the Parish Council, the clubs and the City Council of Sesimbra met in order to set a new schedule for the event.

This decision was made based on three main considerations and in line with the principles established by the municipalities, in their Contingency Plans, since the emergence of this pandemic in the national territory:

1. Support the containment of the COVID-19 virus;

2. Protect the health and interests of customers and residents of the Municipality of Sesimbra;

3. Protect the health and interests of participants and national sport.

This new date gives health authorities and everyone involved in organizing the Tournament the maximum time to deal with the ever-changing landscape and the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new dates, which will be specified according to the 2021 school and sports calendar, also have the added benefit of reassuring clubs, parents and athletes at this very important stage in our lives.

We believe that, with this decision, we will be taking an important step in the example that we transmit in human and sporting resilience, emphasizing what has always been one of our main virtues: Ethics for Sport.

We would like to thank all interested parties, including the Portuguese Football Federation, Setúbal Football Association, Portuguese Sport and Youth Institute, National Plan for Ethics in Sport, sponsors, volunteers and friends for the work developed during this short period.

The Sesimbra Summer Cup organization will continue to work hard for the success of next year's tournament.
